Happy Battle of Puebla day, the minor Mexican holiday that people all over the US use as an excuse to party.
I will say that I have been guilty of this too, but it was when I was in New Zealand and needed an excuse to feel like something other than a foreigner...

CPT (Join to see), considering the country of Mexico's treatment of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, their disdain for our immigration laws, and countless other issues that strain U.S.-Mexico relations that are too numerous to mention here, I won't be celebrating Cinco de Mayo at all, especially as an homage to the country of Mexico.
Incidentally, I did know the real reason for the remembrance of the date, and the fact that it's more of a big deal in the U.S. than in Mexico. It's much like St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the U.S. For the most part, in Ireland, it's just "another day at the office."

Other, because evidently I din't know anything about what I thought was simply Mexico's Independence day.
