If her superiors did not follow regulations in regards to processing her case and swept it under the rug, I expect heads to roll and careers ended. Real leaders fight for their marines with ferocity to win on behalf of the marine. As an army officer you bet that I got in the corner with my soldiers and fought for them.
Loyalty is a two way street. Leaders who do not fight for their marines need not be serving in the military. They are poor excuses of leadership and don't have the requisite values to make the right decisions. I expect nothing less than a general officer to ask the question what happened? If her case was swept under the rug, then it is a huge black eye for the marines.
This is a multi phased operation. Legal aspects will collide with mental care which will shape the future in regards to medical retirement or chaptering. The course of action they take will shape future health care and whether she will get VA funds. I hope in her case there will be an honest broker to make sure the marines do the right thing for the corps and the marine. I expect nothing less from the Marine Corps.

Capt Raymond Sonoda REALTOR® CA Broker CRE ITAR - I am not smart. I subscribe to do the right thing. That will often make the decision easy to make.
I can kind of paint the picture because I was retired with PTSD, and I will be honest that I did make some mistakes when I hit rock bottom. I was lucky that my superiors had compassion and wanted me to get fixed and retired. My gratitude is immense.

Both of you understand the gravity of the situation but the first thing the Marines need to do is reduce the charges against her and move her to a military hospital or Psych ward and stop treating her like a criminal until they get this all sorted out.
Isn't that a fair step in finding out who the guilty party is here. To do nothing is actually making a decision to. This Marine deserves not only her day in court but she needs treatment for her PTSD as well.
I am still a little confused here though because her boyfriend is mentioned as the victim in her assault with a deadly weapon and is also recommending all charges should be dropped. Was she threatening him will in the middle of a PTSD episode and he was trying to disarm her?
My prayers go out to this young Marine and I hope she finds the justice she needs from her sexual assault and gets a conviction to both ease her pain and also to justify the mental anguish that she is trying to get through.

SFC Jim Ruether - I will make the strong assumption the assault took place during a time she had lost her marbles.
