This has been done a couple of other times here in Florida, and it never fails to raise someone's eyebrows, mostly because they aren't familiar with Florida laws. "Going fishing" is a valid exception to Florida's concealed carry regulations, but the person who is going to do it has to beware of violating other provisions in the law. Even though there is no picture in this article, I suspect that the man was probably carrying an AR-15, possibly an AR pistol, which is commonly carried with a sling across the chest, but unless he has a Class 3 license for it, it is NOT an "automatic" weapon.

The law apparently is specific and he is within his rights. Problem could occur due to his traveling on foot by 2 schools.

Since the "News" article didn't say how far he was from the schools and He wasn't arrested for it, I'm guessing He was at least 500yds from them. There are distance requirements.
