My parents were stationed at Clark at the time. They paid out of pocket for transportation to pick up their household goods a few days before the eruption. They took a taxi to Manila. I don't know why but a hooker joined them in the taxi. In Manila a Filipino tried to take off my dad's gold necklace by ripping it. Apparently the necklace was so thick that they failed to meet their objective, but it was a spectacle. They went to the US embassy and was given thousands of dollars.

CW5 Jack Cardwell I Saw Way Too Close. I Love National Geo Shows but Living Thru One Sucks. I don't recommend being within 16 Miles of a Very Large Volanic Eruption. It's a Bad Thing, A Very Bad Thing!
