This article is full of opinion not fact Militia is everyday working people not military!!! They need to reread the definition of militia as it was in the 1700s! And two a militia is not under government control it is under the control of the People, otherwise it would be a standing army, thus making it Unconstitutional!!

SFC Michael Hasbun - If you were at all familiar with what groups like this in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala were capable of in the 1970's and 1980's, I don't think you would be so quick to approve of them.

"Earlier this year, armed [right-wing] militias stormed statehouses..."

Definition of storm as a verb.
( intransitive, with adverbial of direction) To move quickly and noisily like a storm, usually in a state of uproar or anger . ...
( intransitive) To rage or fume; to be in a violent temper. ...
( transitive) To assault (a stronghold or fortification) with military forces. ...

Right-wing protest:
Nothing was burned. No business or home was looted. Police were not assaulted. Trash was picked up and removed. The grass wasn't even damaged.

Meanwhile in what NBC characterizes as "mainly peaceful" protests... see the photo

The mainstream media makes it easy to distrust them.

This article starts with Kyle Rittenhouse, whom there are zero indication he was aligned to any sort of group, much less a "militia" group. It is a subtle way of trying to make readers think he "likely" was. I'm sure they are even ripping apart the Internet to find some indication he supports an extremist far right anti-government group to fit the narrative they so desperately want to convey. The truth is, he is simply a kid who wanted to help, who idolizes the Police, wants to serve his community, and unfortunately got in a little over his head. So the media and the folks on the left are chomping at the bit to try and tear this sentiment down. Instead we should be applauding the desire of any kid who want to serve their community/country and offering them tempered advice on how best to do it and what not to do.

For all the anti 2nd Amendment talk and ridicule when those who support it insist it is meant to deter the installment of a tyrannical government. There are literally people in the street, public spaces, and restaurants literally demanding the owners and patrons submit to their ideals and perspectives. They demand people kneel, raise their fist in "solidarity", and speak the names of people who have been killed. Much of it is irrational, lacking in facts, and worst of all, emotionally based without an understanding of the bigger picture. If this is allowed to continue without challenge or opposing perspectives through civil discourse, it will continue to get worse. To a point where we will see our government attempting to make similar one sided demands from the people. To be clear, I do not think we have a tyrannical government requiring us to exercise our 2nd amendment at this time, but I do see several government "leaders" enabling those who wish that, encouraging more to take part in it through violence and intimidation.

If and/or when I find my own community falling prey to significant violence, destruction, and intimidation because my local or state government refuses to act, and orders the Police to allow it to happen, I too will step up fight that irresponsibility. I will protect my home and those around me who simply want to live in peace, make a living, and be a part of their communities. There is no excuse for our government to allow protestors who choose to become rioters to destroy my community to make their point. Progress is not achieved by the destruction of our communities. If our government leaders can't see that and defend their communities from it, they need to step aside and let someone else do it.

What do you think you have there genius? This?

"thought of himself as a militia member trying to protect life and property, according to videos, interviews and social media posts."

Where did he say that? What posts? Which interview? Which video? Nothing has indicated he was a member of a militia group and even if he were, so what? My point still stands and you know it. Produce one piece of evidence that he was a member of some white supremacist militia as so many on the left are desperately trying to do (and this article is trying to subtly suggest) and I would be happy to consider it. Otherwise go troll someone else. After all, it's what you do...
