I don't want to come across as a charlatan but feel compelled to put this into perspective. The Battle of Guadalcanal was fought after the Battle Of Midway which the US won decisively. One of the first objectives in the Pacific Theater was protecting Australia and her shipping lanes. The Solomon islands and Guadalcanal were north-east of Australia. The Battle of Guadalcanal was a tactical draw, but it was a strategic victory as it denied Japanese naval intentions in that area. I believe the Japanese army experienced significant supply problems because our navy prevented freedom of maneuver for the Japanese navy. I also believe that fighting was so intense that the fresh troops the US brought in to Solomons saw men who looked like they went to hell and back.
