I feel for those Americans in the south. They are starting to get hammered by COVID and not all governors down there are taking it seriously. For example, Georgia's governor is suing a mayor to stop a local mask mandate. I'm going to be staying out of the South until the political leadership starts taking this seriously. I do think that will eventually happen, I just find it unfortunate that a lot of people will have to die before they acknowledge their own incompetence.
It reminds me of all the times Trump has lied or said something outrageous and his supporters quickly chimed in that no one was actually believing and acting on what he said. But COVID doesn't give a darn about their excuses and what they want the world to be. People do believe the POTUS and do act on what he says, no matter how outrageous, but COVID keeps doing what it does, completely uncaring of the affairs of men and dragons.

New U.S. COVID-19 infections in single day approach record high
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in the United States on Thursday was the second highest on record, coming in just short of their midsummer peak as the spread of the novel coronavirus accelerates in nearly every region of the country.
Cases, hospitalizations and deaths are all accelerating as cooler weather descends on much of the country. With 76,195 new cases on Thursday, the United States was approaching its one-day record high of 77,299 new cases on July 16, according to a Reuters analysis.
Only India has reported more cases in a single day: 97,894 on Sept. 17.

There are actually more positives because there is more spread. More people are showing symptoms so they are getting tested because of the signs they exhibit. Please dont be fool this virus exploding down south and it's not because of more test.

there is more covid because there is more testing. we are over 5000 cases now but the guard is setting up mass testing sites all over the state and seems like out of the many tested, a few come back positive

Even the national daily test positivity rate, which was below 5% in early June, has started to tick up, reaching 7.5% on June 24, according to the COVID Tracking Project.
Katherine Ellingson, an epidemiologist at the University of Arizona, told us that the differential between case counts and tests “suggests that community transmission is increasing, and that increasing case counts are not simply an artifact of testing.”
“Further, the suggestion that we are over-testing as a nation is misleading. Certainly in Arizona, our current testing capacity is woefully inadequate,” she said, noting the state’s high test positivity rate. “This suggests that testing capacity is lagging behind levels of transmission. Indeed testing is not available for all who seek it in our state, and delays in test acquisition and receipt of results weaken the utility of those tests in preventing spread.”"

It's not Trump telling us that, It's our Gov and state health dept, and my daughter is one of those doing the testing. I'm tired of blaming Trump for everything that's happening.

my state is one of the lowest on deaths and covid and we did not lockdown most working here were filling vital needs. The ones hurt were barbers bar tenders and cafes although take out was available. We have 5000 cases with 85 deaths and 128000 people tested. You can blame your own Gov for your troubles.
