Training isn't equal in all state, I have observed actually Massachusetts has state standards for unified training that a lot of others don't. This included not only Police academies but in service continued training. This isn't new and the State already has standards beyond what others are proposing to bring them up to date. I have seen use of excessive force in situations elsewhere that in MA We were trained was not proper and excessive plus unjustified. Training to defend against attacks was strong and when lethal force could be used and was justified was spelled out. We were trained in riot control also and did have the proper equipment to protect ourselves and use against violent people issued.
