Interesting story, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel. I’m sure everyone was surprised to find Nisei in U.S. uniforms!

Interestingly enough, there was a lost battalion in WWI also, and a movie was made about it! Rick Schroder played the leading role of the U.S. battalion commander.

The lost battalion of WWI was in the Argonne Forest and the lost battalion of WWII was in the Vosges Mountains. The map shows approximate locations of both battalions, both of which were “lost” in France.

Despite living in an internment camp, PVT Daniel Ken Inouye's father told him good luck and should he die, America has been good to the country, before shipping out for basic training.

The 442nd got the toughest missions. The division commander wanted to see all of the 442nd in formation one day. He said I wanted to see the whole regiment. The regimental commander said this is all that is left and refused to shake the general's hand. They earned their patriotism through their blood.
