Interesting story, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel. I’m sure everyone was surprised to find Nisei in U.S. uniforms!
Interestingly enough, there was a lost battalion in WWI also, and a movie was made about it! Rick Schroder played the leading role of the U.S. battalion commander.
The lost battalion of WWI was in the Argonne Forest and the lost battalion of WWII was in the Vosges Mountains. The map shows approximate locations of both battalions, both of which were “lost” in France.
