I too have doubts.
It strikes me as peculiar that the Russians would spend money on such a fool's errand, and the timing of this being leaked is deeply suspect.
Still, it definitely deserves a close look to determine whether it is true or not.

I do too. You know why? It makes no damn sense and anyone that has a grip on Russian Foriegn Policy knows they are against the Taliban in power just as much as we are. Now the story might make more sense if the money wasn't given to the Taliban but hat story is just too hard for me to grasp that Russia did a complete 180 in that area since the start of the war. If anything it is the Russian objective to keep us there forever until popular opinion back home drives us out but even then I cannot see the Russians not wanting us there. Far more likely if the Taliban had a wad of US cash it was payment for Opium for drug trafficing which I can see the Russians doing on the side to raise cash or some sort of scheme to get around sanctions. Seriously doubtful they would ask U.S. Troops be targeted.

I have no doubt Russia is sending aid to the Taliban which is helping them kill U.S. troops but I don't think they would be dumb enough to have a bounty program plus, do the Taliban actually need a bounty program, they are at war with the U.S. I think they are trying to kill U.S. troops for free.
