Black Georgia Democrat: Party 'Associated with Racism, Bigotry,' Must Be Renamed

You can change the name of anything but that doesn't change what it is.... changing a name does not erase history..... What he says about the democratic party is true but deciding to call it the "politically correct party (PCP) would have no effect on it's history. All of this bullshit about renaming "things", destroying statues, rewriting the history books, etc., will not change the past. Personally, I think it should be left alone. For those who still see Washington, Jefferson, Hancock, and the other great men and women who founded this country as heroes, it doesn't matter that they owned slaves. Owning slaves during their time was a common thing. Times change and so does the social attitude. For those who find it "offensive" to honor the fathers of our country....use those monuments and tributes as a reminder of how far we have come as a nation. While Washington and Jefferson did own slaves, they were keystones in building a nation that eventually got rid of slavery. There are no slaves in America unless you want to count those people who are slaves to poverty and other economic problems. However, if you count them, you have to admit that they come in all skin colors, regions, faiths, etc.

Maybe this will make it easier for you to comprehend....... If the walls in your house are covered with mold and look dirty and ugly, you can always just put on a fresh coat of paint... They will look better but underneath, they are still molded and you have not solved the problem.... just put another coat of paint to make it "look better". Before long, the mold that you painted over will tarnish the new coat of paint and you will be right back where you started.
