I can tell you right now that being a Midshipman is by no means a guarantee of intelligence or decorum-People always slip through. However, this would be easier to comment upon if we had the actual text (and full context) of his "tweets". That said, I'm not about to suggest a "vast conspiracy" aimed at discrediting a single, lowly Mid from Cali when it's equally possible he's just a "Baggit" who needs to go elsewhere.

I will tell you one thing that bothers me... greatly. I attended the place over twenty year ago, and NOBODY I knew back then would've DARED say something like this. Perhaps it's because we didn't have "Twitter", or "Social Media"... and it was "easier" to keep mum. Perhaps it's because (as I suspect) we had a more universally positive view on things? Whatever the case, it shocks me someone with so much to lose... would make such a bad choice, if indeed all is as reported.

I went to Notre Dame. Catholic majority. Has it's diverse student population; as well as, privileged and educated. The last thing I expected was to see outspoken racism, bigotry, or xenophobia; and for 3 years I didn't. All it took was one incident of racism. Twenty years later, it took either the election of Obama or Trump to reveal the racism of a few classmates that I had kept in touch and considered friends or peers. Like you, I would never had thought anyone I associated with back in school would ever share or write an offensively racist or xenophobic message on social media. Then it happened.

LCDR Joshua Gillespie And looking at the other side of the coin revealed in the article and in the legal case, will there be equal treatment? I doubt it. Were the other individuals treated the same way?

SSG Robert Webster - Again, could you please explain? I am unclear why you're citing the 14th amendment. Did someone identified here get a different punishment?

COL (Join to see) - In one of the other articles about this incident, there was a reference to tweets by other individuals that were diametrically opposed to this individuals, with no reference to what occurred to the other parties involved, that did not appear to have any adverse action taken in regards to their actions. See my other comment in this thread with an excerpt from that article.
