Most impressive Sgt (Join to see) I have not seen anything like that since the Vietnam war and the Cold war....! I did see a similar display of power in 1986 during Operation Eldorado Canyon on Libya, but not on this scale...
This video made me a little home sick for sure... but I am very pleased to see a strike group of this magnitude... It also reminded me of an incident while deployed on USS Leahy DLG-16 (A guided Missile Destroyer) in 1972 (Height of the Cold War) in the Mediterranean Sea. We happened upon some Russian War ships at a Greek Island anchorage. The Skipper immediately ordered our ship to do very fast donuts around the Russian ships while playing "Stars & Stripes Forever" on the weather-deck speakers. The Rusky ships were hauling up the anchors as fast as they could. He then took the microphone and yelled into it "Take a good look Ivan... You are looking at #1"! And then ordered a full speed exit from the Russians.
When I saw the first moments of this video, I did a flashback to the Russian incident and I yelled "Take a good look China.... you are looking at #1!" GO NAVY GO you are looking good!!!!!!!!!

PO3 Bob McCord - By the way Bob, The skipper I spoke of in my post above was someone you may have heard of or knew... He was the head of the Brown Water Navy in the Delta about 1969. He took command of the ship my (USS Leahy DLG-16 in 1971 I think.....He was Capt. Roy Hoffman. A great "Old Navy" cigar smoking, knuckle dragging sailor" He was a Great skipper! Go to this BIO page below to read about him. One of his Brown water officers was Kerry who ran for Pres. Roy did not like him at all...!

I believe that you are correct... China has literally been building islands in the South China Sea, not that far from the Philippines... There are many shoals through out that part of the SCS and China has been bring shiploads of earth and rock over the years to build these small islands... Many have military installations, which includes naval and land forces...as well as a landing strip for aircraft... China is declaring domain over those man made islands, and therein lies the rub so-to-speak... China wants to extend their international waters to fundamentally own the area... It has been an international Sea seemingly forever... It will be interesting to see what happens short and long term...

Sgt (Join to see) China is using the law pee philosophy of owner ship... they go to a place.. unrinate on a stone and claim ownership.... There was a long standing joke in the city of Akron when one of the mayors lost an election two days later they arrested him for urinating on the university of akron campus wall while proclaiming himself king of the university....
