The auto unions is what is making vehicles so much more expensive than in times past. I am not anti-union by any means and feel at one time they were needed. I wish my nursing job had better unions however I would never strike as a healthcare professional. To put things in perspective on costs, in 1993 a close friend at Goodyear was making $19/hr with only a HS education. Ten years later with a bachelors degree in nursing my starting pay was $18/hr. Great for those working in the industry but not so great for those wanting to buy from the industry. The movie Grand Torino with Clint had his character buying a car from his factory, many today would have issues doing that.
