We don't know if there's some kind of history here, but on it's face this looks like cold-blooded murder. And the shooter's explanation of a citizen's arrest is not compelling.

SSgt Joseph Baptist - There are numerous different routes this could have went if different decisions were made. But I look at this pretty simply. If you have the gun, are the only one(s) with a gun, and pull it on somebody, when that gun goes off it is the sole responsibility of the person holding the gun.
If this was on the up and up, you mean to tell me that two dudes couldn't handle this without firearms? And why was that the first thing they did, drawing down on the guy? Arbery only had three choices, and a split second to make the choice - fight, flee, or surrender and hope for the best. In the situation, I would have probably fought too being that close to one f the accosting individuals.
The hell of it is this might not have gone anywhere if there wasn't a video. The local law enforcement declined to arrest until the video appeared. That says a lot about what is wrong here.

SSgt Joseph Baptist - I'm speculating, but I'd bet that shotgun guy's former employment in law enforcement was a factor.

SSgt Joseph Baptist - Well, I think there are plenty of eyes on now, so justice should get served.

If I were being chased by people who had weapons, I would determine if I could run and if not defend myself. I can't agree with Mr. Obvious, he should be called Mr. Oblivious, or whomever this video author is, not enough facts are shown. The citizen vigilantes are not officers of the state or of the court, they have no reason, probable cause or otherwise.
Ahmaud Arbery was not doing anything wrong. Mr. Arbery should not have been stopped. If someone pointing a gun at you, you would react to defend yourself, just as Mr. Arbery did.
This is a sad situation but these vigilants should be charged.
