"To be clear: legitimate policy disagreements about the coronavirus exist, and these are not my target. Some pundits forthrightly admit that their preferred approach to dealing with COVID-19 would likely lead to tens of thousands of additional deaths. Some argue that the economic damage of a prolonged shutdown would be greater than from the virus itself, and debate about the real trade-offs is important."
This has been my point from previous threads. Glad we can agree. 1st I've heard about this "Coronavirus Trutherism". We have fringe elements (crazies) on both sides of the aisle that should be called out to prevent misinformation. The problem I have lately is that mainstream voices presenting alternative views backed by science are also being silenced.
- Deaths attributed to COVID-19 are basically ordinary flu and pneumonia deaths, but miscategorized for sinister reasons.
- Very few of the people who died — nearly 13,000 in the United States as of April 8, and growing rapidly — actually died of COVID-19.

Encouraging public debate on the fate of this country during an ongoing pandemic is a reasonable COA. Bad models? When it's proven that the WHO, CDC, or Surgeon General are talking out of their ass why are they not taken down? Anyone who blindly follows anything that is being reported at this point is not paying attention. Pence is being roasted on social media for not wearing a mask. I think that was a mistake by Pence on the PR front but I remember a couple of months ago the Surgeon General explaining why masks were only helpful to prevent carriers from spreading the virus and everyone else should refrain from wearing a mask. While we have much more data now I have still not seen the study that proves this hypothesis one way or the other and yet here we are criticizing Pence because of 'science'. I don't see Youtube or Facebook removing all the shade being thrown at Pence because doing so would contradict the prescribed orthodoxy. It's a one-way street and we both know it.
I am aware the study from the Cali docs was controversial but explain why it's inaccurate in an open forum instead of immediately censuring because it goes against the hubris.
Point is we are still working through the unknows as science tries to catch-up but there is a point of no return in regards to destroying the lives of millions when there are no jobs to come back to.

Do face masks really reduce coronavirus spread? Experts have mixed answers.
Two studies come to different conclusions.
