He should have been wearing a mask; my personal feeling on it.

Yep. Everyone around him wore masks including his entourage. I’m sure the patients were going “WTF!”
Catch his retort? “I’ve been tested and don’t have Coronavirus.” Yep, religion over science right there, folks.

MAJ James Woods - Without going out on a tangent. Lets stick to the original topic or issue. Not me or you, this is the sitting VP of the United States. Mayo Clinic is a Non-Profit, not anywhere the same as DoD (apples and oranges there). DoD has decided to be overly cautious which is fine, though I would say that DoD is not in charge of the POTUS or VP and yes they do not have to wear a mask on DoD premises either regardless of DoD policy, VP of the United States does not have to follow DoD policy either and neither does the POTUS. Nor do they have to wear a reflective PT belt if they decide to go for a run on an Army post. DoD is not in charge of "all individuals" only those individuals that are subordinate to it in the Federal Government hierarchy or are civilians on a military reservation..........clearly that excludes Senior Members of the Executive Branch. VP Biden is not a Federal Employee nor is he a Senator at the moment so yes he would be expected to follow DoD mandates on their property as a visiting civilian with no position in the Federal Government currently.

Just absolutely silly to suggest the DoD or Mayo Clinic has any say in VP or POTUS behavior.........or even that of Cabinet level officials.

MSG Francisco Ojeda - Says you but Mayo Clinic and for that matter the DoD do not establish protocols for POTUS or VP to follow and never have. Pretty sure that is the Department of the Treasury that does that via the Secret Service, and even then it is still a guideline for both POTUS and VP......not a mandate.

MSG Francisco Ojeda - I think you were too strict. Though I know something like that might prompt a heart attack or two in the Regular Army. Actually that kind of thing happens all the time in the National Guard. I still remember when our NG BN Commander conducted an inspection with mirrored sunglasses on.......hilarious. Everyone understood though that he made a mistake and some NCO's grumbled but it wasn't a huge deal. Soldiers continued to know what the expectations were in respect to eye glasses and inspections. That is how unit discipline should work, NCO's shouldn't have to explain someone elses behavior or that it is wrong. Everyone should know because the standard was set clearly earlier. As for VP Pence, he was told it was a guideline up until just recently when CDC decided to change the verbage of the guideline as protective gear was more available to medical people. Then some workplaces, governors, etc. Went a little haywire and started with mandates....everywhere with no real logic. He is visiting a clinic but staying in the common areas he is not visiting patients bedside. I think he is safe enough without the mask. Also, flip side of the coin is his wearing of the mask can also engender an unrealistic fear on the same part of the population he and POTUS are trying to get to return to work. If VP and POTUS are wearing a mask, this must be really, really serious and I should stay home until nobody wears a mask.........that can become a bigger problem if everyone starts to think like that.

SPC Erich Guenther Tangent? We’re talking about respecting the policies of the organization. Mayo Clinic had a mandatory mask policy and you’re suggesting Pence and yourself would still be in your right to defy their policy out of individual selfish reasons.
Or you can be ignorant like Karen Pence who said (paraphrasing) it wasn’t till after the tour someone told him about Mayo’s mandatory mask policy. Once again claiming ignorance as an excuse.
