Struggling to meet the need in a global pandemic for PPE is something everyone has had to contend with. China had bought up massive amounts of PPE most of which is made in China. There does not appear to be any needs not being met. Struggling with something like this when demand surges as it has should be expected. The story does not say that the VA is unable to meet it's needs only that it is struggling like most healthcare facilities.
"It also asserts that VA PPE levels are consistent with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, but makes clear the department was continuing to work toward securing additional equipment like masks in order to avoid more serious shortfalls."
This situation should solidify the need to have this sort of product produced here in the US and not be reliant on a supply chain whose point of origin is one of our global adversaries. This should be a "no duh" moment for the US. Some of us have been calling this out for decades. It is time to wake up and get smart.
