This is a case those of us in New Mexico have been following since the victim went missing one night in the four corners town of Farmington. Based off of local social media the alleged criminal is apparently a former member of the Mennonite's and may have known the victim. His brother is a current member. Typically joining the armed forces is not consistent the pacifist views of the Mennonite religious sect. Usually such an action results in what is known a shunning and excommunication from the Christian Sectarian church.
A case such as this could be referred to the convening authority, which could make him eligible to be the second Airman in history to get the death penalty in a military court. The first is former SrA Andrew Witt.
