Meet the Author

Are you a storyteller? All of us who serve/served understand the importance of discipline in maintaining good order and an effective fighting force. However, have you ever considered the importance of discipline in other pursuits? In the arts? Yes, the arts, including writing. I had the great honor of working with the best artists, fine artists, graphic artists, photographers, sculptors, and writers. All were very disciplined. The worked, really worked at their craft. I, on the other hand, flitted from one thing to another, fascinated by everything. I had some modicum of talent for all except music. (Let's not talk about that one.) The only common thread to my pursuits was storytelling. Sadly, I didn't realize that until after I retired and thus had a very late start at making a disciplined approach to developing my craft. It's funny looking back at other storytellers I admired and realizing that they had developed the discipline at a much earlier age though they had little grist, little life experience to feed into their storytelling mill. I, on the other hand, have plenty of grist but my mill is still under construction.
