As a former SAC aircrew member and Munitions Squadron Commander I'm well acquainted with this story. I've actually been in a storage facility that has sealed barrels of dirt from Spain.

Sgt Jim Belanus Believe me it was just as much a hassle for Munitions Squadron Commanders, actually I think they took great pleasure in making it that way. But it was all for a good reason.

Yes we realized that, It was a 20 min. job that took 15 or 20 min. just to get in. All smoking materials and anything that could make a spark were turned in at the gate. security was high but it was taken in stride. The MM sites were even harder to gain acceses to. just glad I did not have to stay there for the shift work.

Sgt Jim Belanus Fortunately the only times I had to go to MM sites we were pre screened VIPs.

you were lucky, We had to stop at security before leaving, pick up code cards and a head set, then call the LCF before entering the LF, give the code then go to work. Wasn't bad if the weather was nice but remember the cold n wind and overcast. Enjoy your memories Col
