Plenty of CEOs have taken a $0 salary for years. And they don’t have to be motivated by a global crisis to do so.
I guess this most recent gesture is the right thing to do, but it’s really only symbolic in nature.

There certainly have been some. All but a few have received either bonuses or stock options or both. One CEO's $0 salary turned into $2.3 billion compensation for the year. The few who actually received $0 are billionaires+. 2 of those are both worth over $20 billion. W. Kent Taylor isn't exactly hurting but his net worth is less than $400 million. I have talked to people who work at TRH and they are convinced he cares more than other CEOs

While this is a nice gesture. It is more symbolic than anything. I doubt HIS bottom line will have much if any impact.
