South Korea, next door to China and the second hot spot, is over the hump and on the downhill slide with 84 dead to date, just under 1%. What the hell is wrong with Italian healthcare?

1. Italian mentality thought it was just like a regular flu even though we now know that it is more contagious
2. Korea focused heavily on early and widespread testing. Italy and US testing is limited due to logistical constraints

Testing doesn't stop anything. The Koreans (my wife is from Korea, this info is from her sisters who both live in Seoul) immediately began staying home and wearing masks and gloves when going out, using hand sanitizer, etc. The government did what Trump is doing now (maybe the Koreans are his inspiration for this), paying people so they can stay home and avoid spreading the infection. People are sick before they are tested, testing helps hospitals sort, but does nothing to slow the spread of the contagion in a large, widespread population.

Italians live in pretty crowed conditions in those old walled cities they live in, in my personal opinion. I suspect that is why it spread so much there.
