The tragedy here as that people are seeking to leverage this for political advantage. And that wrangling makes it harder to cooperate and unify efforts. I would imagine that the true story is that state and local officials interact with federal officials effectively, and that it is the politicians that generate the smack talk.
I've noticed that with a concurrent event with Presidential attention, the Tennessee tornadoes, such jibber-jabber in non-existent.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Did it?
I remember when Trump announced travel restrictions from Wuhan in the early going, not long after impeachment proceedings ended. Joe Biden and his surrogates called that policy "racist".

Capt Gregory Prickett - Not talking about the cruise ships - until recently that was a phenomenon in foreign ports. I'm talking about flight restrictions to and from Wuhan and later a couple provinces in China. That was prescient and helpful; but now I think the cat is out of the bag.

Capt Gregory Prickett - What do you mean?
The cruise ship in question were in Yokohama, Japan and somewhere in Malaysia and happened to have US nationals on board.
The one in San Francisco from last week had a myriad of issues, not least of which was where to berth the vessel and how to test 4000 passengers and crew without risking community spread in a major metropolitan area.
I sure wouldn't want to be stuck on that ship, but I also wouldn't want it to disgorge it's passengers to get on planes bound for all over the US and abroad, either.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Not BS. What actually happened was there was a passenger from the cruise prior who came up positive for Covid-19, and US officials ordered the vessel to stay out to sea sailing in circles while they determined if there was risk due to a few dozen passengers and most of the crew being on board for the current cruise.
Turns out those concerns were warranted, because last I heard 19 crewmembers and two passengers came up positive after the Coast Guard airlifted test kits to the ship.
Had officials just let them dock, we'd potentially have quite an issue.

Trump is right. Inslees run in the Presidential race was a Farce. His security details OT pay was funded by the tax payers not by his own campaign funds. He refuses to pay. His Carbon tax is a copy of California’s failed tax. In the last election He ran on a “No New Tax” promise and promptly passed a slew of new taxes. So Trump is absolutely right. He is a true snake in the grass.
