The economy is doing well, but the Trump administration should just take credit for keeping it going. It's disingenuous for the administration to try to say that the economy's current state is somehow a result of the President's policies, when the larger, macro-level trends show otherwise. This guy can cherry-pick micro-level data points to craft a narrative, but it doesn't change the larger trends. Economic growth, overall job growth, manufacturing job growth, unemployment, and the stock market all continue along at the same rate that began under the previous administration, starting right after the end of the Great Recession and continuing for years until the present day.

Mr Hasset makes a strong case, but the story author undermines it some with a factual error.
President Obama is not the only President to not achieve 3% GDP growth. That is a distinction that he shares with President Trump, who also has not reached that number.
