1SG Steven Imerman Yep, you said in a few words, what I said in a few more! We agree, I am 99.9% certain that a former "USAF Officer" would NOT consider engagement worthy their time. But, there is the 00.1% that might, even then there is 99.9999% chance of that 00.1% simply chalking the store keeper up to being ignorant.
Again, think it would be interesting for the Base Commander to visit the civilian at the store in uniform with his aid, an MP, and a JAG officer to get a statement sends a message that AD or former, behaviors will not be tolerated that bring dishonor on a service, especially if it is discovered it is later determined that it is in fact a STOLEN VALOR situation. Also, working with a USAF PAO, local sheriff and local media would be interesting.
When a BASE CO (https://www.losangeles.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/) shows up #$%#$ gets serious. The civilian would get a chance to sit down with a senior military officer to learn about, in this case the USAF, and learn better how to handle things involving military personnel. I know this seems like a stretch, but it has its positives and sends a clear message otherwise to those who might think about STEALING VALOR from those who have in fact - EARN IT!
Might be interesting for someone in the Santa Monica are who took the video to share it with the the Base CO via this link: https://www.losangeles.af.mil/Contact-Us/.

Should have walked away!!! Humm! Called himself a USAF 'Officer' training "6-hours a day...to kill". I thought we in the military trained 24/7/365 for peace? I could be wrong!
It would have been nice to know the "actual" words / actions that touched off this 'veteran'. His buddies (Blue Falcons all IMHO), filmed him, and did not seek to break up the incident. This then lead to the embarrassing video that embarrassed the USAF, especially if he is an OFFICER. Someone with 25-years "as a killer/officer" using the kind of language people have come to a "incorrectly expect" of the military that also leads to sweeping misconceptions of all military personnel is indeed unfortunate!
But, this happened in California! Hummmmmm!!!!!
Regardless, something was happening inside this "veteran" and whatever was said needs to be dealt with as an intervention directed equally at both the shop owner/manager/worker AND the service member by a 3rd party!!!
If he is a RETIRED USAF OFFICER, the nearest Base Commander needs to engage with this member and explain that the Code of Conduct and Good Order and Discipline applies just as much when on AD as when you are retired! But, I am just an ole US Navy Chief, what the hell do I know???
--------------
Update 18 Feb 2020: Also, by have the Base CO engage, and if it is discovered the guy is actually a civilian then the Base CO preferring charges under the Stolen Valor Act, etc. would send a message. Also, IF true and the guy is a fraud, giving the civilian a tour of the base to meet REAL military men and women and having the civilian experiencing REAL HONOR will also be a PR positive after effect, and make the civilian a kind of hero for "exposing" another civilian trying to steal valor! Of course , if the person is former enlisted or JO then other courses of action could be taken.
Seems like the Base CO has an opportunity to make difference in the community and to send a VERY clear message on multiple vectors! Just saying............................

Looked like unarmed matches in hand to hand. DI screaming "finish him" and punching in succession. Agreed, don't be this guy.

LOL. I can pretty much guarantee he wasn't an Air Force officer. Maybe he was enlisted but I seriously doubt he was trained to kill people or he wouldn't have folded like a house of cards in front of the florist guy. I mean... seriously. If you're going to talk trash, you best be able to back it up. Don't be caught lying about who you are or what you can do!
And the best way to avoid that is just don't do it. The florist clearly sized him up, saw through his bs bluff, and called him on it.

Capt Jeff S. Agreed, those who can "kill" don't brag about it! They demonstrate with restraint their capacity to those in doubt (OR) they silently walk away! If he was enlisted with 25 yrs he was trying to parole into a bluff hoping the civilian would back down, he is not like any enlisted person I have known. He may be enlisted or officer who was on active duty and was rejected and booted out for some reason, but also never go the care he needed and chose to watch "Rambo" type movies to fill in his day and his fantasy of something more. Of course some civilians take a similar approach. I think the bottom line is this guy in addition to a level of discipline needs other help. Allow his behavior to go unchecked is a threat all that have served - with HONOR!!!
