Really? This was thought of as a successful vote?
Another fruitless action by the DoNothingDems.
“It is expected to pass the House later this month, but Trump is likely to veto the measure. ”
Still Hope springs eternal that maybe the Democrats will finally work on positive accomplishments for the people of the US in 2020 instead of blowing their tax monies on Trump-hating projects such as Russiagate, Muellergate and ImpeachmentGate.
However, by all their actions they are guaranteeing Trump2020.

You know, I remember when Congress would debate and pass Authorizations for Military Force. Spirited conversations would ensue about whether it was a wise and correct course of action to wage war.
That was before the Global War in Terrorism. Several wanna-be Presidents have been tripped up by their AUMF vote for Operation Iraqi Freedom. John Kerry. Hilary Clinton. Joe Biden. That lesson has been learned, so now Congress is loathe to have that necessary conversation.
Which is just fine with the three different Presidents that we've had since. They are executing their Article II powers not because they are diabolical, but because Congress has abdicated virtually all of their Article I powers. They can't be bothered to scrutinize a budget since 2007. They can't be bothered to do an AUMF since 2002 (that half-ass thing when Barry was thinking about an "infantesimally small" strike in Syria doesn't count).
This state of affairs is on Congress - a branch that has changed hands between the parties several times including undivided governments three times - and nobody else. The senior leaders in both houses have been there the whole time; McConnell, Schumer, Pelosi, Hoyer, and Clyburn were all there the whole time. Only House Minority Leader McCarthy and House Minority Whip Scalise were not.
I can only conclude that Congressional leadership is just fine with this state of affairs, and that this is a show vote.

SPC David S.
SSgt Ray Stone - this seems like something both sides agree on. I feel its a good common ground in seeking congressional reform. I say start there and see if things turn around for congress - no more getting rich selling snake oil.

I guess something was learned from Obama's failures. The irony in how Trump is viewed as the dangerous one by Congress.

Barack Obama Expanded The Presidential War Powers He Once Vowed To Limit
Now he's handing them over to Donald Trump.
