The president has the expectation that people that work for him support his policies or at least minimally will execute them. If you cannot do so, you should leave on your own. If you get on the presidents radar as not supporting him or his policies what exactly do you think should happen? Does the president resign or does he release you? I think we all know how that ends.

Every president releases staffers ambassadors etc. There is nothing new under the sun here.

Vindman isn’t fired from the army. He is removed from his post and will be reassigned.

Thank you. It happens all the time in the military, loss of confidence in ability to lead. He can continue to lead in some capacity, until he retires.

So... do we expect the President to keep people in positions of trust that have proven to be people he can't trust?
This is a complete no-brainer.
And I expect that there will be more before they're done.

Cpl Jeff N. - Even Vindman was quoted as saying he was surprised that he was working at the White House as long as he did. I don't see the least bit of controversy other than contrived here. Had he been thrown out of the military, the case could be made, but reassignment in this situation is as much for the good of the officer as the President.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Which part is BS Greg? He was released over his performance. Get sideways with your bosses, bosses boss, you can lose your job oath doesn't make a bit of difference. He can fulfill his oath elsewhere. He is not entitled to work in the white house now is he?

Capt Gregory Prickett - Once you make field grade officer, you start to learn the politics that are in the job. I have no oath sworn to the President but if I want to work for him, I best keep him happy. That goes for any field grade or above I work for. We get paid to make the tough decisions, LTC Vindman made one he was comfortable with, and now will have to work for someone new.

Capt Gregory Prickett - "Go work across the river" is retaliation?
I'm thinking he was done a big favor. LTC V was bound to run afoul of someone in the White House, and no one was going to let him near anything of consequence. So rather than have him sit in an office and color until he quits, he was sent across the Potomac to continue his career.
Honestly, I'm surprised he made it through the whole week last week.
