This is a long, a very long article, but if you care about America, it's well worth the time and effort to read it. America would be far better off today if we had a vibrant and competitive industry bringing us the news. A well informed people would be better prepared to make better decisions at the ballot box. It's foolish to think that journalism was ever fair and balanced. It was competitive. The balance came from competitive newspapers offering competing points of view. Sadly, as electronic news media replaced print news media, competition vanished. Yes, there are many competing broadcasters, but their points of view are strangely homoginized. "How can that be?" I hear you cry. Because the journalists have mostly been indoctrinated in one point of view, one ideology in America's Leftist dominated schools.
Would government subsidies to journalists solve the problem, as the author of this article suggests. Hell no! It would exacerbate it just as government subsidies exacerbate most problems, especially the problems in education. Indeed, I believe that many if not most of our nation's problems would be solved if we put the same time and attention into school board elections as we do in national elections.
