Every USCG member and every USMC member learns about Douglas Munro, deservedly so. There have been three ships named in his memory. The first the USS Douglas A. Munro (DE-422) a Butler-class destroyer escort that served from 1944 to 1960. The second was a 378' High endurance cutter USCGC Douglas Munro (WHEC-724) christened in 1971 she was originally to decommissioned in 2017, but has been kept in service. The third the USCGC Munro (WMSL-755) a new Legend class cutter christened in 2015. Images below are in order.
