I disagree with the One nation under god. We are one nation under no gods and many gods. The phrase "under god" wasnt added until 1954 by the Eisenhower administration which was purely reactionary due to the red scare and should never have happened. For 20 years I have served for the right of americans to sit, stand, kneel, walk, eat, sleep, or do whatever they want during the anthem. That is what being free is all about. As an Athiest I dont get mad when someone says we are one nation under Shiva I just think they are wrong.

I saw this as a work rules issue. The players had nothing that required them to stand. I would have preferred if they had stood rather than kneel. I had no problem with the players exercising their right to kneel if they wished since it was perfectly legal. I did have a problem with the NFL not having rules that required standing as part of their job. They can govern what shoes you wear, what color their socks, arm bands or mouth guard are or what can be on your helmet. If they would do the same thing in regard to the National Anthem and its effect on employment I would be quite happy.
