MSG Tom Earley - To be clear, the benefit we got was, and still is, substantial. It made confronting any NATO members by any rising hostile power very complicated. If they were not careful they were not dealing with an individual NATO member, they were dealing with all NATO members. It is much easier to pick away on individual members of a fractured alliance than an operational one.

Our allies level of military spending has never been the important part of NATO. Be just have become focused on a tree and have lost our understanding of the benefit of the forrest.

I guess their was no build up of a coalition to support our actions up front, and we acted unilaterally. Now we are trying to backdoor the support from our allies. Maybe Trump should have sent a tweet to France, Germany, and the UK hahaha!
