I watched this crew during Hurricane Harvey. They were absolutely relentless in their desire to save people. Tornadoes, blinding rain and power lines were nothing for these people. Well done Coast Guard!

I was in Hawaii for Iniki, Charlotte for Hugo, Wilmington for Florence and Dorian. I was at sea when we skirted both hurricanes and typhoons. And the Coast Guard was there for all of them...even in Charlotte! A brave man can face another brave man in a heartbeat. But to face Nature when she is pissed? The odds are almost always stacked in her favor. I Salute them all!

I wonder how much trouble it was to get the air medal and DFC approved for them. As far as I was aware, they were only awarded to those during combat operations. I’m sure this could spark a debate of new awards for heroics displayed in a stateside environment.
