Sgt Mona Hemphill-Bellmore
One of my first oil paintings in college was a detail of Vermeer's "Milk Maid"

SPC Douglas Bolton - Thanks! Nope, just in my house waiting for me to correct a very noticeable mistake I made about 10 years ago when I decided something needed to be "fixed", and it didn't. I should've learned by then to leave my artwork alone when considered finished. :( I have several old paintings that need a little touch up before finally having a show someday. I've been doing commissioned portraits for more than 40 years, so will have to contact those people to see if they'll let me borrow the drawings and paintings for a week or two.

Great biography, SGT (Join to see)! The Girl with a Pearl Earring painting is so famous, a novel was written and a movie based on the novel was released! The 2003 movie starred Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson.
Here’s an interesting piece about the production. “According to Webber (director), Serra (cinematographer) ‘was obsessed with reproducing the amazing use of light by the artists of that period, and most particularly Vermeer's use of it.’ To reflect the ‘magical luminosity’ of Vermeer's artwork, Serra employed diffused lighting and different film stock when filming scenes in the artist's studio.”
