I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have for almost 2 and a half years. it really helps with my PTSD/Depression. I highly recommend it to all here who are able to move even a bit.

A friend of mine who is a Tae Quan Do (sp) was teaching me and because we wrestled in high school, he told me to do Jiu Jitsu, which he just got a black in, because he knows the wrestling settles me

I have been involved with Historical European Martial arts (HEMA)for the last years and it has been a god send. I have been able to keep my PTSD from getting the better of me. I started as a student and now I help instruct. Physical activity is a must for mental health. (Plus the kid in me loves swinging swords!)

Veterans with PTSD also benefit from equine therapy. My husband came home from Nam and started riding horses as he lived near a farm. He's been involved with horses off and on since. They always bring him joy and a calming way to work through PTSD. One thing about a horse, you are not going to approach one if you are angry. The horse can read your moods and will react accordingly.
