There is a backlash to the climate change zealotry that is happening in some provinces in Canada. I know this article discusses the separatist movement and I doubt it will ever be successful but I know of other separatist movements that are happening in place like Washington State and California due to the political climate change.

Alberta and Saskatchewan have the majority of oil reserves and production in Canada. They are the Texas and Oklahoma of Canada. Canada has a fourth largest oil Reserve in the world yet most of their politicians wished it would stay in the ground but they still want their money because Alberta is forced by law to give a lot of their profits as Equalization payments to help other provinces subsidize their social welfare programs. There is an existing pipeline right now west to Vancouver but it is way over capacity and they are fighting tooth-and-nail to double the circumference of the pipeline. The province is now putting the oil on oil tank cars and shipping it worldwide but it cost so much to ship the oil this way and this makes the province lose about 15 million dollars today in oil Revenue.

Alberta and Saskatchewan have small working class oil and gas employed and unemployed Fringe groups that wish they could the independent of Greater Canada due to the California and Washington State thinking of being environmental zealots..
Canada just passed a supertanker ban that prohibits oil to be loaded onto ships above 22000 tons. Canada also nationalized the construction of the expansion of now nationalized the Trans Mountain pipeline but they just let local authorities have the ability to litigate the expansion into the next century.
