It's well-known just how pivotal German scientists were to the success of America's famous Manhattan Project, and the Soviet Union also recruited the experts however they could as they liberated swathes of Eastern Europe and Germany. These German scientists now in the employ of the US and USSR were major contributors to the two most significant technological efforts of the Cold War: the intercontinental ballistic missile and the space race.
