So we are sending the tanks to keep ISIS from taking the oil fields. The ISIS that Trump said he defeated 100% so there was no reason to stay in Syria. And then he mentions that the Kurds helped us take the oil fields from ISIS in the first place, the Kurds who are now fleeing for their lives after being convinced to dismantle their defensive positions along the border with Turkey because we told them we would handle Turkey so that they wouldn't attack the Kurds. Got it.

Yep. For some reason Trump thinks those oil fields belong to the US. If they belonged to ISIS and the Kurds took it from them then they belong to the Kurds. But then the Turks took it from the Kurds. Hmmm there must be a logical reason why Trump thinks any oil field in N Syria belongs to the US and should be guarded by US troops. Maybe that phone call transcript on the classified server may tell us.

I wonder if Trump even got a COA brief and Centers of Gravity analysis. It's beyond absurd that the US would make a strategic decision to pull out of Syria only to return for strategic purposes. What is the air defense for? Are we going to shoot down Turkish and Russian planes?
Now we have set the conditions for Syrian Democratic Forces, Turkey, Russia, Assad regime, Kurds, US, and ISIS to become players in Syria.

I'm told that the Chairman and the JCS tried to brief the POTUS, but every time they open their mouths to try to give advice, he stops them 1/4 of the way through their point to tell THEM how it is.... he just won't listen.

I was thinking the same thing. I like to assume our senior generals are deep thinkers. MAJ (Join to see)
