At the Constitutional Convention, Madison stated, “In framing a system which we wish to last for ages, we shd. not lose sight of the changes which ages will produce”.
They knew people and ideologies would change over time. They were clever enough to create a document that would be strong enough to last for centuries, but flexible enough to last for generations.
The Constitution’s profound foresight is in its ambiguity. The final clause of Article 1, section 8 is an excellent example of its foresight.

Sadly, they didn't foresee the day when Americans would stop paying attention and Progressivism would arise to destroy the Constitution

Capt Gregory Prickett - As am I as a liberal is classically defined. So, yes, of course I knew that. So what?

While you stated you saw no evidence of foresight in the Constitution, it’s fairly obvious that it was written with great thought toward the future. This is particularly evident if you also read the Federalist Papers. (And to a certain degree, the Anti-Federalist essays).
That stated, while RP isn’t lacking in content describing the Constitutions’ imminent demise, how exactly, is it being destroyed?

Well, that is one of the most one-sided op-eds I have read in a long time.
In fact, the founders were very aware of the possibilities of the future. They included a system to update our Constitution with an amendment procedure, making it possible to make changes, but difficult enough to prevent any easy changes by whoever was in power at the time.
Captain, you address "checks and balances" and yet you speak out against that very thing. Congress has the duty to oversee the executive branch, using the checks and balances. Trump has resisted from the start any challenge to his actions, any such checks and balances.

There you go again. I thought we were making progress, but your reading skills are still lacking. I never spoke out against "checks and balances". That is an argument of the Progressives against the Constitution. And no one in recent times has done more to reverse the advance of progressivism than President Trump.
