My dear Christian brothers,
It's actually not rock music that I find the most dangerous, because it is very blantant, obvious, and in-your-face. It's the subtle backbeat in many of today's "Christian" songs that, to me, poses the biggest threat, because it is oh so subtle that it sometimes goes completely unnoticed. The reality is many modern "Christian" songs are actually the equivalent to soft rock. What happens is, over time, people become desensitized to it and start to drift in so many ways.
Therefore, it isn't the rock music that I'm contesting, but rather modern "Christian" songs that have that subtle backbeat in them. I'm using rock as the extreme example because everyone generally agrees that it is wrong. I'm trying to learn, and then show, why, and how, it is dangerous. So far, my research has turned up the backbeat as the root problem in rock, which I then identified as a very popular and prevalent component also in a lot of modern Christian songs which makes them also dangerous.
I am well aware of the power in the words of these songs. I also know that they are all very well intentioned. However, I find the little bit of backbeat in some of them equivalent to the Biblical concept of leaven, that leavens the whole lump.
The reality of it is, while Christians are trying to use this backbeat element, thinking that it is an innocent and safe one, the truth of the matter is that it was actually designed for the express purpose of desensitizing people to it, to bridge people over to eventually accept full tilt, hard core rock.
