Actually, I do believe it, because there are some people on RP who are openly antagonistic to Christians and what we believe. It had to start somewhere...

SFC Thomas Foreman Oh, it can hold up to it, but I don't have to put up with it, and I won't.

Capt Daniel Goodman who gets to decide what faith is drivel and what drivel is faith?
Capt Daniel Goodman
I follow...I obv understand, and, of course, that's just my own thought about the whole thing...obv others, incl those involved with it, might clearly not think so...to me, such a concept as what that article went into just seemed to be rather an anathema (clearly my own viewpoint, not shared by many here, as I'd gathered in reading other responses, of course), that's all I'm trying to say...however, you are right as to that aspect, of course...I'd seen other threads on the site about other similar unusual religious instances that were actually approved, as well as gotten emails about such instances at various times, though none quite so seemingly overt, as to the kind of notions the article I'd sent in raises, at least in my mind...that being said, your point is of course quite valid as to what constitutes drivel or faith, certainly...I suppose it's just a "me" thing, I guess, I just couldn't comprehend it when I'd seen it, my jaw just dropped with an audible click, most esp it being at a school like that one, that was all I was trying to convey, honest....

I’m certainly not happy about it, Capt Daniel Goodman, but I don’t think there’s to do about it. Damage is done in my opinion.

Capt Daniel Goodman would you like to continue to list the things that an earlier social era wouldn’t tolerate?
Capt Daniel Goodman
I follow...truly, I do...I hadn't meant for the whole thing to be worded as strongly as I'd tried to initially convey...it's just that I'd never expected to see something like that, and had just thought all of you might care to see it as well...I guess I'd just found it rather shocking, though I do quite understand about the religious-freedom aspect involved, honest...

I'm with you, Capt Daniel Goodman, and I don't mind your wording in the least. I think it's revolting and I wish that these midshipmen had never been allowed entrance to the USNA. I just don't think that there's anything to be done about it.

I follow, I obv appreciate the thought, I'd just figured to change it, as there were clearly many of rather different views, so, for that reason, I just wanted to emphasize, I did read everything from everyone, and, obviously, my sensibilities aren't those of others...that was my sole reason for changing it, honest, though, as I'd said, I of course appreciate the thought, in any event, I just had made quite clear that not everyone reading the piece views it in perhaps the light I did on first seeing it, that's all I'm trying to convey, honest....

It will be interesting to see if an anti-religion organization receives religious protections. Standing by for the ACLU to step in.

I'd thought about that group as well, of course, I've read stuff on it for yrs...however, what's covered in that article isn't a religion, to me...to me, it's just quite plain and simply sick...the group I'd love to know the reaction of us the parents association for USNA, a cpl of members of which I've met, in discussions about nominations for that particular academy...I've got kind of a feeling they're likely to be just as unthrilled as I was at reading that, quite honestly...kids at that age, and in that circumstance, attending that school, to my mind, should have zero rights about such nonsense, nor should they have any religious right to call.such totally sick garbage a religion, I'm sorry, that just how I view the whole thing...I perceive your point about the group you'd mentioned, however, regardless, that's my thought on the whole topic discussed in the article I'd sent in for the thread here, honest....

The FFRF will step in if need be. It would be an easy win for their constitutional lawyers. If you don't want religion at the Academy, they all must go. They do not get to pick and choose.

Capt Daniel Goodman I’m not even sure what your objection is to this other than “I don’t like it and it must not happen”
Capt Daniel Goodman
OK, I follow...to me, it just struck me as highly unusual for such an institution when I'd seen the article, honest...that was my only reason for having sent it, honest...as others here say, if I'm wrong, I understand why, about the not being able to pick and choose...it's just that seeing something like that there just took me rather aback, in all candor, to the point where I just thought all of you should at least see it...I expected many here would say that about not being able to pick and choose, really, I did...I suppose it was just a conditioned reflex of sorts to react in that fashion about it, I guess...please know, it's just my own thought about it being unsuitable, I of course completely realize and accept that, even if it might obv be something I just find esp unpalatable, honest....
