I remember going from the Green Fatigues to the BDU.. the idea was presented to us that the USAF and the US Army would share the same provider for uniforms.. That was until three years later and a portion of the Enlisted Force was demanding changes because "we, the USAF" did not use the blouse tabs and the lower pocket on the pants. So the USAF then contracts out for a USAF Specific BDU...
I was retiring just at the changes for the ABU were being brought in.. I went into retirement about three days too early and missed out on the boots.. Personally I think the uniform services has gone crazy with uniform changes in the last 18 years or so..

MSgt Frank Martin Agreed, sir. It appears, though, that they have come full circle and are going back to consolidating providers. We're using OCPs. Navy is getting rid of their blueberries. there's still distinguishing factors, but this is closer to common sense than it was when everyone had their own specific camouflage unis.

Seems to me the Army and the Air Force just went full circle back to basically the BDU in general. I know the ACU pattern sucked.
