Five dead as plane runs out fuel and crash-lands

I read this earlier and thought the same thing- kind of important in the scheme of things

Fuel leak, maybe? Hard to tell until the investigation is completed and released. Could be that they planned a destination plus 45 minutes and an alternate 30 minutes away, then failed to recognize stronger-than-anticipated headwinds. Hard to say.
