That's funny, I think Nye got so caught up in the only thing that ever made him popular and forgot he was play acting and reading a script.

SSgt Addison R. - I get what you're saying and I don't disagree with al of it but I think you get what I'm saying too. Can Bill Nye be classified as a legit scientist from his work at Boeing? Maybe. Does that mean he can speak on biology (for example) with any authority? No. Maybe he can, but his engineering background doesn't support it. That's why we look for credentials like degrees and whatnot. And you're correct, just being a scientist doesn't make someone right.
What exactly would you like Christianity to test? That's an honest question? History can't be tested in a lab. So what tests would you specifically like to see?

SSgt Addison R. - You are the one making the claims that he is you show me his credentials that make him and expert in the climate, I took a few course to get the extra hours in introductory course in electrical engineering, Also have 24 credit hours in history, doesn't make me an expert in those field. You show me, And yes being an expert means you have some sort of training in that field, either by formal education or passed on learned knowledge like and apprentice, show me where Bill has had any such training or education.

SSgt Addison R. - Like I said, the things claimed by the Bible can't be tested in a lab. Just like whether or not George Washington was our first president can't be tested in a lab. We use historical evidence for that, not lab results. We all believe in things that science hasn't proven. We all believe in things that we can't prove to others. Christianity isn't abnormal there. As for the claims in the Bible, it was written over centuries by 40ish people. Collusion is not the most likely answer to the prophesies. Add to it that the prophets that said these things were typically killed and even if they weren't, they weren't popular. So it begs the question of why would they prophesy this stuff at all.
And to be honest, when it comes to the claims of scientists, some (not all)hey could pretty much say whatever they wanted and people would believe them because no one knows any different.
You're right, this could go in many different directions.

It doesn't matter if he has a PHD in engineering. That doesn't make him a scientist. I have an advanced degree but I can't call myself a scientist because the degree is not in science. Pretty simple concept.

A scientist must be, by definition, 'learned' in science. I do not call myself a 'social scientist' with just an MS. He plays a science guy. He is not educated in the craft. Most 'scientists' have advanced degrees in their field. Think doctorate level.

Yes, many old school (pun intended) were not formerly trained. But now, no one would identify someone as a scientist without formal education. The definition defines one as 'learned'. Nowadays, that is an advanced degree. Now stop bugging me zoomy and move on.
