We should allow picture ID for voting and we should have background checks for purchasing a handgun or a rifle. Canada does not consider it racist to ask for photo ID when you go to vote because they have a national. Canada does not consider it racist to ask for photo ID when you go to vote because they have a database that tallies all those who are born in Canada, those who immigrated into Canada and became Canadian citizens and those who have passed on are removed from the voting database. So let's make it win-win for everybody. The Gun Show loophole is still there and I can't believe that!
If you ask for ID you are considered racist in the USA but not so in very liberal Canada. I don't see why the NRA is so afraid of background checks?

Capt Gregory Prickett - You've glossed over the point. The tribes do not allow tribe members to vote on tribal matters because the tribes use the same regulations as the state and the federal government. The tribe is not required to do that, but they do.

National Coalition for the Homeless
While state and federal laws have eliminated some of the barriers to voting for homeless people, other obstacles remain. Those obstacles can be overcome if people experiencing homelessness know their rights and learn ways to overcome the barriers.

I totally agree. There is racism here in Canada as well. My wife was prepared when she tried to vote in the last local election. The registrar was happy until she was the next customer. Then they questioned her driver's license and they asked for a second form of ID and she showed them her Canadian passport. They didn't believe she was from this Precinct so they asked her for proof of residency with a utility bill. She had that handy. Then they said she was not on the rolls and she pointed her name out right there in the book. Then they called the supervisor to have them double-check everything and then they reluctantly gave her ballot. When she went to go vote, the registrar said oh hi! To the next White individual. When she comes to California, they think she is Hispanic. As soon as she gets back into Canada, they're calling her Squaw. When she goes to pay with a credit card, they asked her if this is hers? Four years ago, she had a major aneurysm and spent three weeks in the ICU. She made a full recovery but she had to go to an outpatient clinic for mental health following this traumatic experience. When she went to see the intake worker, they didn't ask her what happened to her. They asked her if she needed a cab or does she own a car? They assume she has destitute. Not only does she have a driver's license, it's a class A big rig professional drivers license with Advanced certificate. It's known as a Class 1 here in Canada. They follow her in stores thinking she's going to shoplift. Employees Shadow her or loss prevention is called over the intercom to her Department to where she is shopping. My wife does not drink anymore. She is 43 years old and she hasn't had any alcohol since she was 18. She stopped smoking do to her aneurysm. Even though the USA has their problems, Canada seems just as bad if not worse when it comes to First Nations people.

LTC (Join to see) - That. Is. Some. Bullshit.
It is hard to believe that this kind of shit still happens in the 21st century, but here we are. My wife (of Surinamian and Haitian descent) gets a lot of looks, too. It sucks, but you deal with it.

1SG (Join to see) my wife and I are 13 years apart. I am balding and have grey hair and she looks like she is under 31 she is 43. We did get comments from the natives and looks from people when we are walking together. I'm sure you know the feeling. Thank you for your empathy, first sergeant!

Allow me to translate:
McConnell will not have Senators take a politically perilous vote only to have the President veto it. Whatever might come out of the Senate, it will have consensus.
I agree that it is politically timid.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - Welcome to the wonderful world of a Representative Democracy. It has only been like this since....hmmmmm...the founding of the country.

MAJ Bryan Zeski If staffers and whips or their colleagues are telling reps and senators how they should be voting, they aren't representing the people. And the Senate doesn't represent the people, they represent the states. the bicameral congress is two halves with different bosses. Federalism with our bicameral congress is supposed to help ensure mob rule doesn't become the norm.

Sgt John Steinmeier - That's not really the case. Yes, the system has been similar, but I think we have an inordinate amount of political power that was never envisioned by the Founders. They never expected people to be career politicians. They expected people to come from their communities, do their service and move along. It's the career politician aspect that enables one or two people to control the system for long periods of time. That wasn't how it was supposed to be.
The Senate DOES represent the people of the State, just as the House represents the people of particular districts. The State doesn't pick and choose Senators - the people of that State do.

Agreed, the democrats did the same stupid stuff back when they controlled the Senate, did not hear the media crying then, the left only wants this stuff when they are not in power, once they get back in power it will be okay to do.

SSG (Join to see) - I've always hated the political games like this - regardless of who was in control. I just want then to do their job, bring motions, bring their plans, and vote. Let the chips fall where they may.
Take the AOC "impeachment" vote. Awesome. I want to see that vote happen. I think it'll fail. And that's ok. The point isn't to win every vote, it's to make a record of where people stand sometimes.
