You mean that we can't just keep spending mountains of money on stuff indefinitely?

The expansionary bias of politicians, same on both sides. We just gave another big tax break to the wealthy at a time of an economic boom when we are supposed to be recouping our deficit spending from the last economic downturn. So instead of reducing the deficit, we made it go much higher, well done!

We keep on spending but never wanting to pay the bill. Both sides sell some form of "bribe", either by some program or making taxes lower so as to not pay back what we've already spent.

I don't give too much credence to statements saying the "other side" is doing it because both sides are doing it and doing it "bigly" as our current POTUS might say. The right only preaches the religion of balanced budgets when they think the other side wants to spend money on something.
