A Camp Lejeune Marine will meet the man for the first time who saved his life when he was just days old.
Cpl. Stewart Rembert will be in Knoxville, Tennessee Friday morning for the retirement ceremony of FBI Special Agent Troy Sowers.
One of Sowers' first cases when he joined the FBI was rescuing Rembert in 1997.
Rembert was kidnapped from a Tacoma, Washington hospital by a woman who impersonated a nurse. The baby was found by Sowers days later in a box behind a dumpster.
The FBI agent invited the Marine to his retirement ceremony.
"I have never met this guy, never got to thank him for saving my life," said Rembert. "I'm a United States Marine. Getting my Eagle, Globe and Anchor was the best thing that happened to me and it wouldn't have been possible if I wasn't found."
Rembert is motor vehicle technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 8 at Camp Lejeune.
