There have been two mass shootings in the US in the past 24 hours.
When speaking to my mom about the state of our country, her automatic response was, “Satan is at work, let me tell you.”
A constant theme droned out on the loudspeakers of victim blamers, white supremacists, and the like, is, “Take responsibility for your actions!”
Okay, I’ll bite.
Let’s apply this precept to everything, shall we?
Even to the horrific, nightmarish refuse of Hell that the US has become.
Stop saying, “Satan is at work.”
Satan works, yes, but the evil you see? It only happens because of human participation. This isn’t just some mindless, complacent acceptance of a status of events we can’t change.
That’s bullshit.

Satan was the one who tempted Eve. Having said that Satan is gleeful over the way so many of us forget that he is trying to win a war that the Bible says he has already lost. I do blame Satan for the ills of this earth. He got us to like our basest desires. Drinking to excess, pornography that saps the mind, drugs to weaken or resilience and make us weak. No, Satan doesn't hand things out but he does nudge people to disregard the truth of the Bible.

You're correct. Satan has one weapon and has had one weapon since his fall from grace. He lies. He doesn't force anyone to do anything. When people say "The devil made me do it", they are wrong. The only thing Satan does is lie. He gets people to believe his word over God's and that leads to sin. Every. Single. Time. Whether it's mass shootings or gossip.
Also, the devil is NOT God. He is not omnipresent like God is. The devil CANNOT be tempting everyone at the same time. He can only be in one place at one time. For someone to think that out of all the people on the planet, the devil has singled them out as his prime target is pretty improbable.
