Awards over the last 15 years have become over-inflated and rank based. I've seen a junior CPT who did nothing during a deployment, got caught drinking with junior soldiers get a Bronze Star at the end of his deployment while the junior soldiers he was drinking with get busted down a rank and discharged. I've also seen SPC who deserve MSM's get AAM's because their leadership was told SPC don't deserve MSM's.

Most, not all, but most USAF tours in Afghanistan were 3 months when I was over there. Hell, they barely learned their routine from hootch to latrine in that time, but plenty of senior officers got an EOT Bronze Star for doing that. Frankly, that's shameful, and most of them rarely if ever left the soft confines of their units.

Col John Madison - it's disgusting how they treat awards used for valor in combat to doing your job while deployed, in an office environment. If someone can justify their troopers getting the award, they should be able to get that award approved. If you are bag of donuts that sat in your office doing admin BS, you don't rate the same award as the soldier who goes above and beyond! The Army has gotten this wrong and continue getting wrong on so many levels.

Funny stuff. Here's my whole take on awards...the more you give out, the less each is valued, as is the respect for just "doing your job".

This coming from the 5 X draft dodger of the Vietnam conflict, and the C-inC that places our military in immediate danger by ignoring and rejecting data from his entire intel community!
